City and Street

This alleyways is near where I grew up when I was a kid. There are skyscrapers everywhere in Taipei city, and I remember walking in between them as a kid, lost in the urban jungle.
Back in 2013 I entered a video competition to a popular YouTube channel. I won the first place. The prize for the first place is to get to fly to Singapore and stay there for a few days.
On the day of returning, I took a photo of the air plane I was about to board at Singapore. Few years later, I turned it into a painting. I love the scale contrast between the 787 jet and everything else! Quite often we see air planes high in the sky, and they don't have the same visual impact as this.

I had the pleasure to visit Japan during summer 2017. Luckily, it was pretty much all overcast and rainy all week. I call that lucky because I would choose that over a hot tropical summer in a crowded city any day. Moreover, it's always exciting to paint another wet street scenery!
20”x8” watercolor painting
Living in Seattle, Vancouver is one of the places where I visit often. While not everyone enjoys a rainy day, it is a very exciting subject to paint in watercolor!

Seattle is known for it's rain. While I do miss the sun from time to time. I can't denie it's meant for watercolor.
Landscape
This painting is inspired from my friend Cory Miller's video. He went there for some quiet time and reflection. I think it is something we all need once in a while. To have some time alone with our self.
The challenge is to make it feel like you're looking down at this vast view. Scale, depth, placement all came into play.. it's much harder than I thought it would.

This one was painted on location during one of my sabbatical week. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Instead of bringing my own water for this painting, I used the water from the river which I painted from. Make this one much more fun and personal!
